ALTON Beckford’s century laid the foundations for Flixton to wrap up a 119-run against Lostock and helped them stay on top of the table.

The home side won the toss and batted first, Luke Perry set the ball rolling with 75 and his partnership with Beckford took Flixton to 185.

Beckford ended on 111 while Steve Hammond (22) chipped in further down the order as Flixton set a target of 284. Dave Flanaghan was rewarded for his toil on the bowling stakes with 4-106.

In reply, Lostock got off to a slow start at 15-3 but Nick Jeffs (46), Conner Hicklin (22) Steven Hood (32) and Paul Busby (24) were among the runs but the visitors failed to chase down the runs.

Hot on Flixton’s tails are Daisy Hill after their stroll in the park against Elton winning by nine wickets.

Elton were skittled out for 187 after looking set for a convincing total at 161-5 with Steve Ward (48), Alistair Lowes (39) and John Ashworth (39).

Paul Hart was pick of the bowlers with 5-32.

Daisy Hill were going strong before Craig Atherton was out 26 but Mark Wood (62) and Mark Atherton (84) helped them over the finish line.

A half-century by Rason Primus inspired Atherton to a seven wicket victory against Edgworth.

Edgworth were all out for 141 with Guy Haynes hitting the highest score of 24. Jamar Griffith and Matt Gallagher shared three wickets apiece.

Defending champions Atherton reached their target in 31.3 overs, Primus hit 52 and later contributions by Griffith and Gallagher (31 apiece) helped them to a win.

Hamesh Silva stole the show as Worsley saw off Adlington by 67 runs.

He hit 35 and along with Danny McKeown’s 32, Worsley reached 195 and Adlington’s Karl Jones took 3-35.

Silva had another role in the bowling stakes with 3-69 and James Kilner took 4-31.

Amin Raza (34) and Ben King (30) were the only batsmen with any credit in the Adlington innings.

It was a disappointing day at the office for Darcy Lever’s batsmen as they failed to chase down a low target against Standish losing by four runs.

Standish batted first with Tony Kelly getting 29 but all the hard work was done by Dominic Gavin 7-27.

Scott Burns hit 17 but that was as good as it got for Darcy Lever with Niall Burke taking 4-31 and skipper Sam Heeley 4-27.

Another team that came up short was Little Hulton losing by four runs against Astley and Tyldesley.

Paul Bennett (56) and Travis Wordsworth (43) were among the highlights of A&T’s 201 total.

Ansar Javed took 3-70 and later led the way with the bat (52) and Sully Mohammed (35) but Little Hulton were all out with 196. Jimmy Cutt 4-50.

Walshaw made it two wins in two matches after defeating Swinton Moorside by six wickets.

Swinton batted first posing 141 with Dave Flatley hitting 23 but Gavin Nicholl 3-35 led the way for the bowlers supported by Steve Holt 3-40.

Danny Hornby notched up 55 while Rakitha Weerasundara added 30 to help Walshaw to 144.

Elsewhere, Thushendra de Zoysa inspired Blackrod to a nine wicket win against Golborne.

Tom Kelly (45) almost scored half of Golborne’s runs as de Zoysa took 6-34 and Chris Sanderson 2-17.

The duo of Sanderson (53 not out) and de Zoysa (50) wrapped up the win.

Rowan Bricker sampled agony and delight in Winton’s 15 run win against Bury.

He was run out on 99 and along with Mike Seenan’s 45 and Lewis Johnson’s 22 saw Winton set a target of 205.

Simon Belson and Nekoli Parris shared two wickets apiece.

In reply, Belston led by example with 60 while Alex Brechin (29) Parris (25) and Matt Twentyman (24) were the batting highlights for Bury.

David Marchment took 3-58 and Simon Brittain 3-40.
