BOLTON Olympic Wrestling Club boasts two Commonwealth Games bronze medalists after Louisa Porogovska triumphed against Kathryn Marsh 4-2.

The 27-year-old got the first points on the board to enjoy a 4-0 lead and her Scottish opponent tried to hit back at the end of the first round.

Two points in the second round ensured a nail-biting finish but the England wrestler held on to bag her first medal at the Commonwealths.

Porogovska competed in Delhi in 2010 but misses out on a podium spot.

Earlier in the day, Porogovska lost out to eventual 55kg winner India's Babita  Kumari.

She said: "I was just really nervous and didn’t really wrestle my best. I just needed to start wrestling and stop messing about.

“It was good to beat the Scottish girl [Chelsea Murphy] in my first fight, I just wish I could have done something against the Indian. That is what I came to do.”

Porogovska follows in the footsteps of fellow team-mate Craig Pilling who won a bronze medal two days ago.

Lee Meadows coach at Bolton Olympic Wrestling Club said: "We are delighted for Louisa.

"It is a fantastic achievement and she deserves all the success she has got.

"It is amazing to think that our club has two medallists at the same games and goes to show our youngsters what they can aspire to."
