WANDERERS have beaten Premier League Burnley to the punch by landing Tamworth striker Kaiyne Woolery.

A £10,000 deal has been struck with the Midlands club – which is also thought to include sell-on clauses and a future friendly – for the 19-year-old front man.

Woolery was thought to be close to signing at Turf Moor at the start of the week, with a fee agreed between the two clubs, but Wanderers’ intervention appears to have turned his head.

West Brom also looked into the possibility of signing the youngster after coming up against him in a summer tournament but a change of management at the Hawthorns saw the deal shelved.

Described as a pacy attacker, who can also play wide right, Woolery signed for Tamworth 12 months ago from Maidstone United.

He spent a short spell back on loan with Maidstone and was also sent out to Stafford Rangers last season before earning a first-team place with the Lambs.

He finished the season with two goals in his 19 senior appearances but was still able to attract scouts from across the Football League as his side slipped out of Conference North.

Tamworth boss Dale Belford is confident the youngster can succeed at a higher level.

“Kaiyne had options but decided Bolton are his preferred choice,” Belford told the Tamworth Herald. “It's a great move for him and we wish him all the very best. He's a smashing kid.

“He's a raw talent with a lot to learn and develop but there's no better place for him to develop his talent than with a club like Bolton.”

Surely destined to become the next Emanuel Morini, Tom Eaves, Paul Wheatcroft or Tope Obadeyi. Another in the long line of BWFC's wasted youth.

Manny was brilliant, a talent well wasted at BWFC. I remember watching him way back when the Reebok was in its infancy playing keepy-upy with an apple.

And to the detractors let us remember Juke only had one or two goals in 20-odd appearances.

Good luck to Kaiyne Woolery...

Obviously this kid didn't look at the stats for how many players have achieved success through the youth system at both teams. or his ambitions are not very high.

10,000 quid for a player,if that is all Bolton can afford then they might as well pack it in.The young man might be a decent player,I'm not knocking him but the message Bolton is sending out to other teams is that Bolton is scraping the bottom of the barrel and all is lost.It also gives D.F.an excuse at the end of the season "we just didn't have the players to compete, but be patient We will fight our way back into the championship next year.

This is long-tem, farsighted planning. It's difficult to attract talent when you are a non-league club so, planning 3 seasons ahead is vital.
