DOUGIE Freedman admits that Wanderers have been priced out of deals to sign Crewe striker Max Clayton and Liverpool’s Jordon Ibe.

The Whites boss had high hopes of landing the talented duo last week but has once again been frustrated by a lack of available funds at the Macron Stadium.

On Ibe, the highly-rated Anfield winger who had been close to signing a season-long loan until last week, Freedman confirmed that the 18-year-old was on the verge of a move to Championship rivals Derby.

“Jordon looks like he is going to Derby,” he said. “It looks like we have missed out on that one once again.

“The contribution that we would have had to make financially was too difficult for us to meet.”

On Clayton, the 20-year-old striker who had been training with the club last week, Freedman confirmed that he had now travelled to Denmark to speak with FC Midtjylland.

“He’s a good player and we liked him – he’s the kind of player we should be bringing to the club,” he said.

“But the fee that Crewe wanted it out of our reach.”

Crewe were understood to have put a £1million price tag on the youngster, who was out of contract with the League One club but whose value would have been set by a tribunal if Wanderers had pursued a permanent deal.

If he moves abroad, the fee received by the Railwaymen would be substantially lower than it would if he stayed in England.

Only £1 million quid and the tribunal would have probably asked for £250,00 up front and then a little more depending on appearances. Absolutely ridiculous.

Let's face it, if we'd had the money to bring these two in, we'd have signed Jutkiewicz in the summer.

There won't be any last minute deals, so ignore Nixon and Twitter, we're stuck with the omnishambles of a squad we've already got.

In what way is our financial situation 'convenient'? These aren't excuses to mask poor performances - it's the hole we've dug ourselves. Ridiculous spending has put us to the edge and now we have to pull right back. The squad we've got is all right, but we're a Championship club for a good while now. To think we'll get relegated is absurd - that won't happen with the squad and manager/set up we have now. Bad start - slow improvement and then solid finish is how we'll play for a while now and I'm OK with that - I'd rather have a club to be disappointed with than no club at all!

I cannot believe that the Wanderers are so completely poverty stricken. I admire the die hard supporters who buy season tickets and new team shirts and then endure performances from the team that are so short on quality and entertainment. I went to the recent Capital cup game against Bury and was of the opinion that the group of players representing Bolton that night had just met hours before the game . To say they were clueless is complementary!!

Gulp? Boy, no doubt our Chairman (laugh) would love another 9999 season ticket holders like you!!

I asked my brother 2 seasons ago; have you ever heard of the expression: spiralling out of control in free-fall? He knows what it means now.

All I can conclude is that our very merciful Owner has somehow family ties with "FAX-PHIL GARTIDE" though I always associate him with that scandalous BBC Panorama programme were he tried to sell " JJs contract to another bent agent without JJ having the foggiest idea the secret deal was being done while he and his family sat at home watching TV.

Truth is we aren't a club that players want to come to, We only have managers who are just YES boys for Gartside, forget any signings until January window, by then the club will possibly have 10 points, then a few rejects will step in who haven't been able to gain first team places in their respective clubs and are only coming to boost their own chances, At the end of the season again we will be looking mid table, and then the charades will start again, what we need is a supporters buyout, Then we will have some on the payrole who wear the team name on their sleeve and not just the corrupt ones running the club into the ground, or the five or six playing who are stealing a living by under performing.

I understand that we're skint and have FFP breathing down our necks, no one elses but seems to me that to get the club making a profit we need to be buying young prospects/foreign bargains and selling them for a profit like we used to. That means letting the manager spend a little. At the moment we're like a closing down shop with only old tat to sell.

We should be showcasing the young talent, Rob Hall,is a perfect example, give him games see if he can get some Premiership scouts down.

The Chairman has a lot to answer for in bringing the club to it's knees financially. When he eventually realises that he has made yet another mistake in appointing Dougie (his fourth failed appointment in a row) and sacks him, he musn't be let anywhere near the next managerial appointment.

This shows what a difficult job Dougie has on his hands and any other manager would if they were brought in. He needs to sell to buy otherwise we get no one. The fans needs to understand that we are no longer a premiership club and with the financial constraints comes restrictions on signings. Would you rather the club go bust? Just accept that dougie has a difficult job abd get behind him and the team rather than rubbishing them which does no good for BWFC whatsoever! Support your club - whatever the results are and manage your expectations.

What a fiasco. Cant afford to pay £1 million for a player when other champion clubs are signing players as if they are going out of fashion.
I have been watching BWFC since the days of Lofthouse, Moir, Langton,Barrass,Hart
le, etc this is the worst period ever for this club, I am not forgetting the bad times in the old 3rd division.
Just seen on TV the new Manager of Crystal Palace and is first action will be to get some new players in ( a bit of ambition. )
As Garside and the owner do not intend to spend any money then I can only think of one solution, do what Southhampton did.
Go into administration ( I think they did it twice in three seasons. !!!!!!! )
Look were they are now.

I do not understand the finances of the club. The owner is owed £163 million. Why is this not in the form of shares - perhaps because he is guaranteed interest on a loan but, given the club is not making a profit, he would not receive any dividend from shares. If this is the case, is the owner as generous as the club are making out - or do I have all this wrong.

Yes, Its a tough job. It was tough when he chose it. When he left his beloved side who were higher than we were. But he's got a large squad still, we're not Backpool yet, and many of the squad are players he brought in.

Whatever the financial constraints are at this club, and there are lots, does not excuse the negative tactics and deluded views and awful performances.
