BOLTON School pupils have been making use of their summer holidays by trying to edge one step closer to full Great Britain honours.

Bertie Moores, aged 17, Thomas Prayle, 16, Fergus Plant, 17, and Chris Ray, 17, were part of the GB Under-18 water polo squad on a recent trip.

Aaron Winstanley was also named as part of the trip but was unable to attend. The squad was orginally 22 players and some did not make it.

The team had been disbanded but has recently reformed and is now preparing for the U20s European Championships which will be held in 2016. The squad was out in Croatia from August 27-31. They played a number of informal games against Hungarian and Croatian club teams. They were trained by Bolton School teacher Dr Mike Yates, who is team manager, and was assisted by two water-polo teachers from Bolton School, Andy McGinty and Addison Brown.
