ROCHDALE Under-17s broke Bolton hearts with a last-gasp try to take a 55-52 victory.

Bolton found themselves 5-0 down before a superbly worked backs move put full-back Adam Kazmi to touch down by the posts for a brilliant converted.

Rochdale restored their advantage with a well-taken score to make it 12-7.

Joe Partington secured his ninth try of the season when he broke tackle after tackle to crash over and level the scores.

But Rochdale had the final say before the break with a try to take five point lead into the half-time team-talk.

After a number of injury problems, Bolton were forced to have a reshuffle and it paid off as a good break down the right tied in the cover and quick lads left gave Elliott Williams the breath of space he needed to round the last man and score his first try in Bolton colours to even up the score once again.

Rochdale paid Bolton a huge compliment as they retained the lead with a penalty goal but Bolton didn’t rest on their laurels and took the lead once more as Tom Hill scored his teams fourth try in the corner to make it 20-22 with 20 minutes left on the clock.

It was becoming hard to believe there was a two division gap between the teams and amazing to think that many of the Bolton pack were comparatively new to the game.

Connor Orrell continued his excellent performance with front row mates Connor Blades and Jordan Greenhalgh getting better and better with each passing moment.

With less than 10 games between then Connor Blades and Jordan ran hard, tackled soundly and rucked and mauled like experienced pros.

Behind them George Weston and Jordan Ashton were brilliant in the 'engine room' giving the scrum the go forward it needed while controlling the lineout.

The back row of Charlie Aylett, Ryan McClusky and Tom Hill absorbed everything Rochdale had to offer and returned it in a tussle that had both sets of coaches and spectators purring in approval.

Bolton halves Joey Gore and Harry Stocks kept the game moving and the pressure on the home outfit.

Gore's distribution was first rate while Harry excelled in all he did and bossed the game from start to finish. Centres Mikey Latham and Joe Partington matched their opposite numbers in skill and intensity while the back three of Charlie Hardern, Elliot Williams and Adam Kazmi tackled everything in Rochdale purple and ran with purpose and no small amount of skill.

But sadly pressure told and Rochdale finally recorded the last score of the game to take the match 25-22.

The U12s recorded a 13 tries to five win against Aspull.

They were bolstered by several new boys and a number of old boys paying in new positions.

Bolton soon opened the scoring as both new wingers scored tries wide out to give Bolton the lead. The interim Aspull recruit Jake Rimmer scored two opportunistic tries, and a score by Ethan Greenwood pulled the score back to respectability.

A brace of tries for stand off Owen Lewis and captain Tom Platt were the thin end of the onslaught as Joseph Cropper and Myles Hope soon put the game out of sight.

Cropper scored five tries while there was three-try haul for Hope.
