A TALENTED Over-Hulton skier was part of a group of 10 young Ski Rossendale Race Club skiers who travelled to Dublin to race in the Irish Open Slalom Championships and the European Open Slalom Championships the following day.

Rebecca Hart was in action in the Irish Open Under-10s girls category where she came out on top of the podium.

The following day she achieved a silver medal in the U10 girls in the European Open.

On the Saturday afternoon, she made her national debut competing for the the England D team in an International dual slalom event.

The team members train hard every Tuesday and Friday under the guidance of coach Gordon Wellands at the Rossendale dry ski slope.

Hart has been skiing since the age of two and has been racing for the past four years.

This is her biggest achievement to date but she has ambitions of further success when she will compete next spring and summer at events across the country.

Proud dad Phil Hart said: "She has done so well to win the race.

"She has been doing the sport since she was two-and-a-half and been competing for three years now.

"She wants to go to the top but there is a long way to go for her to reach those heights."

Rebecca's success was just part of the celebrations for the 10 young skiers as they returned home with nine medals.

Phil added: "It has made her more hungry for success and is going to be competing in the Winter League in Pendle where she will be competing in the team events."
