MARK Davies has been told he requires knee surgery which will rule him out of action for four months.

The midfielder, cursed with injuries during his Wanderers career, had been in god form since the arrival of Neil Lennon as manager.

But Lennon revealed this morning that the 26-year-old has suffered another mysterious knee problem that will see him sidelined until the very end of the campaign.

“It’s a hammer blow for us,” the manager said. “We don’t know the rhyme or reason for it, he came in and looked brilliant in training on Monday.

“On Tuesday his knee had swollen a little bit but the next day he felt he could carry on.

“We took him for a precautionary scan and then for a second opinion but the result was the same, he needs surgery.

“It’s a big blow for the player first and foremost and we don’t understand why this complication has occurred.”
