I REMEMBER only too well what it is like to win at game at The Den.

That FA Cup win under Owen Coyle a few years ago was a rarity for a Bolton team – they have only ever won twice there in any competition. And if Neil Lennon’s side are going to follow us, they will need to keep their concentration.

It can be a very intimidating place if you let the supporters affect you mentally. You have to be strong enough to block out distractions or abuse aimed at you and focus on winning the game.

We won that game in 2012 quite comfortably and I think the current team can do the same to carry their good form into the festive period.

Ian Holloway’s Lions have only won once in seven and confidence might not be at its highest, even though they beat Brighton last time out.

For all the talk about how intimidating a place The Den is to play, they haven’t won a game at home since October 25.

Wanderers should be confident, they have kept three successive clean sheets now. But they are definitely not ruthless enough in the final third and the manager knows he has to sign a proven striker to help the team.

Craig Davies’s presence will be missed again because playing against Danny Shittu requires a very strong presence.

The first 20 minutes will be important because that is when you can silence the crowd if you start on the front foot.

If Wanderers play with the same intensity they did against Blackpool then they can set the tone. You do that by winning your individual battles, like 50-50 challenges, and showing your intentions from the first whistle.

I think the addition of Eidur Gudjohnsen will help the midfield score goals just as much as the strikers because he is capable of spotting a run, making a clever pass, and creating a chance others may not.

The defensive shape has definitely improved since Lennon took over and it’s clear he has worked really hard on that side of the game.

Now it is time for the team to start scoring goals.
