FRANK Hinks is the new president of the Bolton Cricket League.

Hinks, who takes over from Peter Stafford who died recently, has been involved in the League for almost six decades.

He joined Walkden Cricket Club in the late 1950s and played for the club until 2000.

He attended his first league meeting at Farnworth when he was 18.

In the mid-1960s he became an official at Walkden and has gone on to become a life member of the club – which he continues to serve today as treasurer and president.

He is also a life member of the Bolton League which he regards as undergoing the challenge of change at the moment and is in very capable hands with the current group of officials.

Bolton League and Walkden cricket is in Hinks' blood, with his father a former life member of the league, a winner of the Hubert Pendlebury Memorial Trophy and president of Walkden until his death in 1995.
