I DON’T know if it’s a rumour or fact – but if the story linking Wanderers with Kris Commons is true, he is exactly what they should be looking for.

He would be a great addition, in my opinion. He has a great left foot, takes a great set piece, can score a goal and play behind the striker – which ticks a lot of boxes for me.

Home has been sweet since Neil Lennon took charge of Wanderers – and it’s clear to see how much value he places on getting results in front of the club’s own fans.

Facing a Leeds United side that beat Bolton 1-0 in August at Elland Road, this is a completely different team. It is playing with confidence and defensively a much more difficult prospect to break down.

The experience Lennon has brought in makes me think the team can finish in a much better position but a lot of that will depend on whether Wanderers can continue to keep the Macron a fortress between now and the end of the season.

Leeds United have been going through their own problems and are so inconsistent. The biggest problem for me is that they have an owner who wants to run the club and select the team – this is a very unstable mix which causes problems on and off the field. Bolton need to take full advantage tomorrow afternoon.

I played for the club for four years and I’ve never seen as many young players given as many chances as they are right now. Since Lennon came in he has opened the door to the Academy as well as the fringe players – but I think the coaches down there at Lostock deserve a lot of credit because they have done exceptionally well to bring this amount of talent into the first team.

I have been impressed with a lot of the young players who have made an impact, especially Josh Vela, who has come back from injury and done a great job playing out of position at right-back.

If you are good enough, you are old enough to play for a team and Lennon is showing he is not afraid to give them a chance.

It has been well documented that the club need to bring down their debt to the owner and that’s why it is really important these young players step up when they are called upon – just like Zach Clough did last week.
