WANDERERS insist they took out the maximum allocation of tickets offered by Liverpool for their FA Cup fourth round clash at Anfield.
The club have confirmed they were given the option of 3,000 or 5,500 tickets by the Premier League Reds for the game on Saturday, January 24 and opted for the highest number on offer.
Fans snapped up the full quota by Tuesday afternoon but those who missed out will be left disappointed, as it is understood no extra allocation is possible.
FA Cup rules state up to 15 per cent of a ground’s capacity should be given up to away fans – although factors such as segregation and the level of policing required are also taken into account.
Such was the demand at the weekend, queues stretched from Bolton Central up to Middlebrook during the busiest spells on Sunday.
Wanderers made the tickets all the more appealing by offering fans free coach travel from the Macron Stadium, along with free car parking.
Appetite for the game – which will also be televised on BT Sport – has been huge and it will be the first time the sides have met in the FA Cup since Wanderers' famous White Hot replay triumph in 1993 when 8,000 fans celebrated goals from John McGinlay and Andy Walker in a 2-0 victory.
