CHUNG-YONG Lee could play for Wanderers against Wolves next weekend – if Crystal Palace do not snap him up in the meantime.

Neil Lennon allayed fears of a serious injury to his Korean star, confirming he stands to miss six to 10 days with a small hairline fracture on his right shin.

Palace have yet to agree a fee with the Whites – who want £1million - but sources in South London believe negotiations will start up again now that the 26-year-old has been cleared for a quick return to football.

Asked what his plans are for Chung-Yong now that he could be fit again in the transfer window, Lennon was ruling nothing out.

“We haven’t made up our minds on that one yet,” he said. “He’ll be fit for Wolves next week because it’s only a miniscule fracture.

“There’s definite interest but no concrete bids, as of yet.

“But if you’re asking whether I expect a bid for him between now and the end of January, then I would, but there has been nothing to this point.”

Palace boss Alan Pardew wants to add some creativity to his side and smells a bargain, with Chung-Yong’s contract up in the summer.

Wanderers want to recoup as much of the £2.2million they paid to FC Seoul in July 2009 but Palace wanted assurances over the player’s fitness before they discuss a price.

That has been a closely-guarded secret over the last week, with the club seeking the advice of two radiologists to assess the extent of the injury, picked up at the Asia Cup in a group game against Oman.

With those worries now eased, and a return to the tournament in Australia ruled out completely by the Wanderers boss, it should now pave the way for Chung-Yong to leave in the next week-and-a-half and throw up the chance of a farewell appearance at the Macron Stadium on January 31.

Palace are certainly in the driving seat but Lennon has also previously hinted at interest from abroad.

Meanwhile the Wanderers boss has reiterated there has been no discussion with Celtic over Kris Commons, who played 90 minutes in the SPL side’s 4-0 win over Motherwell in midweek.

“It’s just talk,” he said. “He’s Celtic’s player and at this moment it would be very difficult to see a deal get done.”
