BLACKPOOL have made a surprise loan move for Wanderers youngster Niall Maher.

The 19-year-old defender has not made a first-team appearance for the Whites but is expected to join the Championship strugglers on a short-term deal.

Manchester-born Maher can play across the back four and goes straight into the Seasiders' squad to face Watford this weekend.

Meanwhile, Neil Lennon says he has “one or two” deals which could go through in the final full week of the transfer window.

As reported in The Bolton News on Thursday, exciting young Northern Irish striker Daniel Hughes will link-up with the club early next week ahead of a potential transfer.

The 22-year-old has scored 11 goals for County Down team Warrenpoint Town and had been strongly linked with a move to the Irish Premier League with Linfield.

But acting on a recommendation, Lennon will bring him to Euxton for four days next week to run a personal check.
