ANDY Walker believes Neil Lennon’s big-game experience makes an FA Cup shock possible at Liverpool this evening.

One of the goal-scorers for Wanderers when they dumped the Reds out of the competition in 1993, the former Burnden Park favourite admits the odds are long on another upset.

But Walker thinks Lennon’s recent track record at Celtic, where he came up against the likes of Juventus, Barcelona and Benfica should give him the tactical nous necessary to contain the in-form Reds.

“When you have got Champions League experience it is a great learning curve for any manager and Neil Lennon has had that on many occasions — he knows what it is like to come up against very special players, which is a real advantage,” he said.

“He’s done very well to haul Bolton out of the relegation mire, but this is a different type of test.”

Brendan Rodgers has hinted he will make changes, including the possibility of resting captain Steven Gerrard, but Walker concedes the task of taking a result from Anfield remains a tough one.

“I watched Liverpool at Burnley recently and I think they were lucky to get the win, it was just a moment of magic from Raheem Sterling,” he said.

“But then they gave Chelsea a very good game last week and I think they should have won by a few goals.

“If Bolton are going to get a result, they all need to play to a very high level of performance and be consistent.”
