WANDERERS have agreed a loan move for young Benfica midfielder Rochinha, manager Neil Lennon has revealed.

The 19-year-old playmaker, whose full name is Diogo Filipe Costa Rocha, starred for the Portuguese side's reserve team in last season's UEFA Youth League and was named player of the tournament ahead of Manchester United’s young striker James Wilson.

Rochinha is Portuguese of Brazilian descent but is yet to make the breakthrough as a first-team regular having made a handful of appearances for the Lisbon giants’ B team this season.

Once a deal is completed, Rochinha will stay with Wanderers until the end of the season.

Lennon said: “He pays in the number 10 role and did really well in the Uefa Youth league last year.

“He is very talented, creative and has a goal in him and we are grateful to Benfica for letting him come here to get games.”

Rochinha arrived yesterday, alongside 22-year-old Northern Irish striker Daniel Hughes who is on trial at Wanderers, but may not be involved tonight.

Lennon also revealed Polish forward Kamil Wilczek, from Piast Gliwice, is also spending time at the club.

Wilczek, aged 27, has scored nine goals in 19 games this season and has represented Poland at both under-19 and under-21 level.

Lennon said: “Daniel Hughes is just coming in on trial and we've got a Polish striker in on trial.

“It's difficult this week though with a midweek game as training will be staggered and fragmented but hopefully Wednesday and Thursday we'll get a real good look at the two of them.”

While Lennon looks to add to his squad, he has dismissed speculation linking current skipper Matt Mills with an exit before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Fulham were reported to be interested but Lennon says there has been no contact about Mills who is out of contract in the summer.

The Whites boss said: “I know Matt's agent quite well and there has been no contact and no information on Fulham.

“I don't know where story has come from.”

Mills is a player Lennon hopes to tie down to a new deal along with Adam Bogdan and Darren Pratley.

He has been boosted, however, with Neil Danns signing a new deal beyond the summer - thought to be another one-year deal.

Lennon added: “Dannsy has signed an extension.

“We have already had discussions with Darren, Matty will be next and Adam Bogdan as well.”
