SAIDY Janko has targeted a top-10 finish with Wanderers before considering his Manchester United future in the summer.

After a sensational strike on debut in the 3-1 win over Fulham on Tuesday night, the 19-year-old winger has not ruled out a longer stay at the Macron Stadium.

But whether or not he earns a new deal at Old Trafford could hinge on how much experience he gains in the Championship – and the Switzerland Under-19 international is determined to use his time at Bolton wisely.

“I definitely want to help the team get into the top 10 before I leave,” he told The Bolton News. “My contract is over in the summer and then we’ll see; the doors are open.

“I want to prove myself here at Bolton and then maybe I can show United I can get another contract there.”

Janko signed for United from FC Zurich in 2013 and was a regular feature of Warren Joyce’s development squad.

He hoped to follow the likes of Adnan Januzaj into the Reds’ first team but his only taste of senior football to date came in an unmemorable 4-0 defeat against MK Dons, in which he was substituted at half time.

“It was a difficult time for us, all of the youngsters,” he said. “We had never played before together as a team and only trained a couple of days before the game.

“I don’t think the younger players did too bad – I think I was unfortunate to be substituted.”

Janko wasted no time impressing at Wanderers, particularly in the second half against Fulham when he was pushed further forward from wing-back, with Josh Vela moved into the back four.

Now the youngster wants to show he can handle the added pressures of senior football

“Not only to United, to myself as well,” he said. “It’s a very different game. It’s a lot quicker, a lot more physical, and obviously you have to be more focused with the stadium and 15,000 supporters. It is different.

“This is a great opportunity for me to play regular football.”

Janko’s move to Wanderers was only rubber stamped on Tuesday – and his debut had already been delayed by paperwork problems on transfer deadline day.

He admitted the move had come as some surprise last Monday, coming after a development squad game against Fulham which only ended two hours before the window closed.

“The coach told me – in fact he dragged me out of the shower – and told me that if I wanted to go out on loan Bolton Wanderers wanted me,” he added.
