BOLTON Ladies' 2nd Xl ended their season with two wins in two days against Rochdale's first team to ensure they finish either third or fourth in Greater Manchester Division Two.

On Saturday they won 3-0 at Harper Green, and followed up with a 2-1 success 24 hours later.

They went ahead on Saturday after withstanding Rochdale early pressure, Emma Girt finding Jenny Brookfield who released the ball to Sophie Crank who put away a reverse sweep into the corner of the net.

Girt fired in a super second with a shot from inside the D which went in off the crossbar and Crank made it 3-0 with a close-range shot through the keeper's legs.

Bolton had to come from a goal behind on Sunday, Brookfield levelling when she hit the backboard in a one-on-one with the keeper before half time.

The second half was a feisty, end-to-end affair with injuries, yellow cards and a few stern words exchanged, and Crank scored the winner with a volley after a free hit from Katie Bent took a touch off Brookfield.

Bolton men's second team finished their relegation season on a high with a 2-0 home victory over Keswick.

With league finishing positions decided there was just pride to play for and Bolton started slowly, relying on a series of defensive tackles to keep the match goalless at the break.

The home team stepped it up in the second half and James Robinson broke the deadlock when he arrived late from midfield and finished confidently.

Bolton's sixth win of the season was sealed when Dean Currie doubled the lead over the fourth-bottom visitors with a shot from the top of the D.

Bolton will be looking to bounce straight back up into Division Four next season.

Bolton men's 3rd XI also concluded their season with a win to finish eighth in North West Hockey League Division Five North/South.

They produced an outstanding performance to beat fifth-placed City of Manchester 3-2.

Umer Mohammed put them ahead when he converted a rebound off a penalty corner but conceded an equaliser against the run of play when Bolton contended that the scorer had kicked the ball over the line after Chris Sharrocks had blocked a penalty corner.

Solid work from Joey Gore, Ritchie Turner and Matt Rimmer in defence snuffed out any chances as Bolton dominated the second half.

Richard Moore fired home the second for Bolton from a tight angle then made it three with another fine finish before Manchester scored a late consolation in Chris Carney's last game as Bolton third team captain after 10 years in the role.
