WANDERERS captain Matt Mills is a big doubt to figure against Charlton Athletic tonight with boss Neil Lennon receiving another injury blow after Craig Davies was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Mills picked up an ankle injury in training on Friday and missed Saturday’s home defeat to Norwich City.

Assistant manager Johan Mjallby is hopeful he will be involved against the Addicks at the Macron Stadium but admits he may not make it.

Mjallby also confirmed the results of Davies’ scan after he broke down last Thursday mean he is unlikely to play again in the remaining four Championship games.

The Swede told The Bolton News: “Fortunately there are no new injuries from the weekend.

“We have Matt Mills who had to sit out the weekend’s game with a swollen ankle and a bit of fluid in it which he felt in training on Friday.

“He is going to be touch and go but he has a chance to make the game.

“He will be in squad for Charlton and hopefully he is going to make it.

“With Craig Davies, we think it is more or less like the last time he had a hamstring injury.

“He could be out for four to six weeks.

“You can never be certain when it comes to hamstring injuries but obviously because of the last one it is very doubtful he will be featuring anymore this season.

“It is a grade two strain but because of the history he has with hamstring injuries, we can’t take any risks.

“It is a shame because he scored two goals and then has picked up another injury.

“It is frustrating for all of us. It has been a season where we have picked up too many injuries especially with important players.”

Even without Davies, and possibly Mills, there are likely to be changes to the side that started against the Canaries with Paddy McCarthy one player expected to return at the back.

There is also a chance Mark Davies could make his long-awaited return, though it is more likely to come from the bench.

Mjallby added: “It might be too soon for him to start.

“He is obviously in our minds because we want to have a good look at him before the season ends.

“It is great to have him back because he is a quality player.

“We hope he can at least feature tonight but we won’t decide if he will start until late.

“He is in our plans and at least he will get some game time before the end of the season.

“He is going to be a bit rusty because he has been out for a long time but it will be good for Mark himself to get game time and get the feeling he is back.

“He was close to coming on on Saturday but unfortunately we didn’t have time to put him on.

“He has been training really well and physically it is not a problem.

“Paddy McCarthy has a good claim for making the starting 11.

"It is hard for any footballer but those boys who are getting on and have only played a wee bit, you need to be careful when you play two days in four days."
