THE local cricket season kicks off tomorrow with the first round of games in the Bolton Association.

After a winter of speculation that it could be the end of the two Bolton leagues after this season, the focus turns to the action on the pitch.

The Association start things off with their opening programme of matches tomorrow followed by the Bolton League starting their campaign 24 hours later.

And we will have a club-by-club round-up of players in and out, professionals, overseas players and captains in The Bolton News tomorrow when we preview the new seasons for Bolton's big two leagues.

Daisy Hill begin their campaign with a difficult-looking opener tomorrow at home to last season's champions Flixton.

The 2013 champions Atherton, who have been engaged in a battle for the title with Flixton for the last two years, begin with a trip to Golborne.

This season will again feature 18 teams in the Association as it did last season when it was increased by four clubs.

And there is a new club this season in the form of Westleigh who have taken the place of Elton who have left the Association to play in the Central Lancashire League.
