WANDERERS under-18s were denied a second successive victory against London opposition by Fulham after seeing a lead cancelled out twice.

David Lee's youngsters travelled to the capital after an impressive home victory over Arsenal a week earlier and started brightly at the Cottagers Motspur Park training ground.

Good pressure forced the hosts into mistakes and the Whites took advantage with a well-taken opening goal.

Good work by Tyler Garratt wide on the left saw him rob Elijah Adebayo of possession and then send in a fine cross to Tyrell Palmer who was on hand to find the net from six yards.

It looked like the lead would last until half time but Wanderers conceded a penalty 10 minutes later when Fulham's Aaron Redford was brought down in the box and dusted himself down to score from the resulting spot-kick to level it up.

Wanderers ended the half strongly but it remained one apiece at the interval.

The hosts began the brighter after the restart and Stephen Humphrys almost put them in front but saw his looping header hit the bar.

But it was the Whites who would edge back in front on the counter attack.

Garrett again did well on the left wing, driving towards goal before firing in a shot from 10 yards that went in off the post.

Fulham responded and went close through Luca de la Torre and Redford.

But Wanderers stood firm until added time when they conceded a second penalty in similar fashion to the first.

Again it was Redford who was brought down and he stepped up to net his second to earn the Cottagers a point.

Despite the last-gasp disappointment, Lee was pleased with his side's efforts in west London.

He said: "We started the game very brightly, with some excellent pressing and pressure, forcing Fulham into several mistakes.

"We were resilient throughout.

"After a long journey and a very early start with five hours on the road down there, I was pleased with both the commitment and desire to work hard and get something from the game.

"We again had three under-16s involved, giving them good experience for next season."

The under-18s have a blank date this weekend and are back in action on Saturday, may 2 when they host Blackburn in their final home game of the season.
