WANDERERS' Under-18s extended their unbeaten run to three matches with a 1-1 home draw against Blackburn on Saturday.

After victory against Arsenal and a share of the spoils at Fulham last time out, the young Whites were in positive mood going into the final home game of the campaign.

And they started brightly at the Eddie Davies Academy when Tyrell Palmer fired home the opening goal.

Good work from Christopher Cvetko and Danny McKenna set up Palmer who struck diagonally across the keeper from 12 yards.

David Lee's youngsters pressed for a second goal but Rovers were level on the half-hour mark and it remained one apiece at half time.

The second half again saw the Whites take the game to their visitors with McKenna, Nathaniel Phillips and top scorer Jamie Thomas all going close to putting the hosts back in front.

But they could also have been caught out had keeper Will Jaaskelainen not pulled off a good reaction save at the other end to deny Rovers before it finished all-square.

Coach Lee was pleased with his side's efforts after selecting two under-16s players to start.

He said: "We scored early after good play and pressed hard throughout the first half.

"We created some good chances but couldn't find that second goal.

"It was encouraging though after I introduced two under-16s to start the game as the development continues ready for next season."

Lee's side wrap up their FA U18 Premier League campaign on Saturday when they travel to Southampton.
