WANDERERS midfielder Neil Danns made his World Cup debut for Guyana on Sunday and marked it with two goals against St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Liverpudlian netted a 50th-minute penalty and then again three minutes from time at the Providence Stadium in Georgetown.
The second strike earned his team a 4-4 draw but it was not enough as the visitors went through the CONCACAF Round Two qualifier on away goals after a 2-2 draw in the first leg last Wednesday – a game Danns did not feature in after red tape blocked his appearance.
Elsewhere, Eidur Gudjohnsen was an unused substitute for Iceland as they rose to the top of their Euro 2016 qualifying group with a 2-1 win against Czech Republic on Friday.
Young forward Conor Wilkinson played in both of Republic of Ireland U21s friendlies against England, figuring in the first half of both matches which England won 3-1 and 2-1.
Meanwhile, ex-Wanderer Mixu Paatelainen has been sacked as Finland coach following a fourth straight defeat in their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.
The Finns lost 1-0 at home to Hungary on Saturday – Adam Bogdan did not feature for the visitors – and sit second bottom of Group F below Faroe Islands.
