WANDERERS look set to continue their clear-out of fringe players this week with Sanmi Odelusi close to completing a £50,000 move to Wigan Athletic.

The 22-year-old is thought to have agreed a three-year deal with the Latics and could make the move official within the next couple of days.

Despite breaking into the first-team set-up under Dougie Freedman and scoring two goals on his full debut against Shrewsbury Town in the Capital One Cup last year, a serious knee injury put him out of action for several months.

Wanderers still extended the winger’s contract but Odelusi was unable to make the same impression on Neil Lennon and spent the latter half of last season out on loan to Coventry City.

The Sky Blues wanted to renew that loan this summer but Wigan have stepped forward with a cash offer, which could enable Lennon to pursue other targets, including Dutch defender Nick Kuipers.

Meanwhile, Conor Wilkinson’s move to Barnsley appears to have hit a hitch with sources in South Yorkshire claiming the club is struggling to agree personal terms with the Republic of Ireland Under-21 striker.

A fee of £75,000 has been agreed between the two clubs but negotiations have slowed considerably in the last few days.
