ADIL Nisar batted his way into the Farnworth record books on Saturday with an unbeaten 160 against Little Lever.

The total of 160 is the highest first-team score ever seen at Bridgeman Park from either an amateur or professional player.

Nisar’s superb batting performance overtook Sylvester Oliver’s long-standing record of 156.

Kamran Sajid (82no) and Chris Baxendale (37) also scored high as Farnworth set their visitors a mammoth target of 299-1.

Professional Zain Abbas led the response hitting 60no but his side failed to provide sufficient backup and they were bowled out for 117 – Sajid (5-45) and Melbourne Austin (2-16) did the damage with the ball.

But the day belong to Nisar, whose phenomenal effort has taken him past the 500 run mark this campaign.

And captain Simon Booth heaped praise upon his side’s top run-scorer: “He (Nisar) is a very good player and has been around for a long time,” he said.

“Nobody could bowl at him, he was just kept knocking them off. We could have been there for two days and still nobody would have bowled him out.

“The dry wicket reiterates what I said earlier in the campaign that good players bat better on dryer wickets and that certainly helped as even their pro scored high on this pitch too.”

The result leaves Farnworth four points behind top-of-the-table Greenmount and one point ahead of third-placed Egerton – with both sides also recording victories.

The league-leaders secured a narrow win at home to Horwich.

Babar Naeem (84) led with the bat for the visitors but the bowling attack of Phil Heaton (4-40) and Mark Stewart (4-62) – who is now only five wickets away from the all-time Bolton League wicket taking record – dismissed Horwich for 178.

Andrew Bowker hit a half-century in reply and Daniel Keegan added 28 as Greenmount reached the target with only two wickets remaining. Naeem (3-74) and Lewis Haydock (3-63) were the pick of the bowlers.

Amal Dalugoda starred with the bat as Egerton kept the pressure on the top two with a routine victory over Tonge.

Professional Mahela Udawatte hit 66 and Dalugoda stuck 146 – the second highest score of the season behind Nisar – to post a total of 303-9. Dave Bath (4-109) and Mansoor Ahmed (3-139) were the only bowlers of note.

Ahmed turned his hand to the bat and stuck 34no in reply, but the superb bowling of Adam Street (4-50) and Will Halton (4-26) taking four wickets apiece dismissed the league’s bottom side for 99.

Eagley leapfrogged their opponents Walkden with 32-run victory.

The Dunscar side got off to a bad start when the top four batsmen were all dismissed for 22, but Paul Rayment (51) and Asid Bhojani (35) came in and steadied the ship, guiding their side to a 133 finish. Johnathan Fowler bowled 4-31 and Ryan Ayres took 3-31.

Walkden were quiet the contrast - starting well with a total of 34-0 with Adil Malik scoring 26 – but then the bowling attack of Saif Bhojani (4-7) and stand-in pro Raja Arshad (4-45) cranked up the gears and bowled them all out for 101.
