THE Bolton Cricket League will decide on the format for the first year of expansion at a meeting tonight.

Two options, which have been amended from previous ones, are whether to start next season with one division or two.

Twelve of the League’s current 14 clubs will be joined by 10 from the Bolton Association in next season’s expanded league.

Option one under discussion tonight is to form two divisions with Division One comprising the top 10 Bolton League clubs plus the top two eligible Bolton Association clubs, and Division Two comprising the bottom two Bolton League clubs along with the remaining eight Bolton Association Clubs.

Option two is for clubs to play each other once, first and second team, to form two divisions in 2017 with consideration given to making minor changes to the bonus points for one season only to take into account views expressed by new member clubs last week.

The meeting may also discuss possible names for the new league.
