KRIS Worsley and Robert Mwelwa hit top form at the Bolton parkrun on Saturday morning.

The former chalked up his fastest time in just over 12 months when he crossed the finish line in 23mins 31secs, while the latter, on his 39th run at Bolton, ran almost a minute faster than his previous fastest time when he clocked 20:25.

Cecilia Woods continued her impressive recent run of form around the 5k Leverhulme Park course as she creeped closer to a sub-24 minute time with 24:05 – her 17th personal best at Bolton.

There were 249 runners this week including 26 first timers and one off-duty referee whose match was cancelled at the last minute.

A total of 43 new personal bests were recorded and 23 athletics clubs represented.

Kirsty Preece (Burnden Road Runners), Woods (Bolton United Harriers & AC) and Victoria McNulty (Bolton United Harriers & AC) were the first female runners to complete the course.

Anthony Valentine, Shay Walker (both Bolton United Harriers and AC) and Paul Thompson (Bury AC) were their male counterparts.

Marjorie Leigh (82.61 per cent), Rudolf Maciejkowicz (82.54 per cent) and Valentine (79.63 per cent) scored the day’s highest age gradings.

This week’s visitors included David Clamp from Delamere parkrun, and Steven Allen from Pennington Flash parkrun.

The event also welcomed probably our longest-distance parkrun tourist ever when Jo Crompton, regularly turns out at Diamond Creek parkrun in Australia, stopped by while on holiday in Bolton.

More than 20 volunteers helped to make the event happen and if you would like to give up your time one Saturday morning to fulfil one of the crucial roles then get in touch.

The runner of the week is Elizabeth Thompson who completed her 50th run this week, 49 of which have been at Bolton.
