WANDERERS will assess Tim Ream and Mark Davies ahead of today's Championship opener against Derby County at the Macron Stadium.

Ream has returned from Gold Cup duty with the US team with a swollen thigh while Davies reported to training with a bug earlier this week.

Definitely out are injured defensive duo Derik Osede (ankle) and David Wheater (calf) though both are expected to be short-term absentees and back within a fortnight.

Whites boss Neil Lennon told The Bolton News: "Mark Davies came in with a little bit of a bug earlier in the week but apart from that we are okay.

"Tim has a swollen thigh so he has been getting a lot of treatment on that so we will have to see how it reacts to determine whether he will make this weekend or not.

"We think Derik may be another 10 days or two weeks and Wheater the same."

Another man set to miss out is Max Clayton who is back fit again but Lennon does not want to rush the young forward back too soon after eight months out with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Lennon said: "Max Clayton is maybe another few weeks away from being back.

"He has not really done full sessions yet but we knew he wouldn’t be straight back at the start.

"He looks great but we will take our time with him to make sure he’s right."
