BOLTON parkrun was once again host to 300-plus runners this week.

With the glorious weather conditions, event number 228 saw 60 of those taking part achieve new personal bests.

Leading the field of 320 home whilst setting a personal best was Bolton United Harrier Tommy Harrison in a speedy 17mins 21secs.

It was nearly a total of 61 PBs as the second male home, Paul Thompson (Bury AC) just missed out as he equalled his best of 18:42.

Completing the top three was parkrun stalwart Robert Short (Burnden Road Runners) who crossed the line in 19:38 on his 185th outing.

For the ladies Lorraine Hopley (Rossendale Harriers) was first back and seventh overall in 20:18.

Bethan Faulkner, on her second appearance at Bolton, followed in 21:26 with Paula Pilling (Burnden Road Runners) returning from her holidays to finish in 22:30.

There was a first this week when the in-form Judith Bonnar beat her husband Neil for the first time over a parkrun course.

Judith has completed 173 parkruns and Neil 170 – all at Bolton – and Judith finally has the bragging rights in the Bonnar household for the first time in four years of doing Bolton parkrun.

Stephen Morran (80.37 per cent), Isabella Merritt (77.48 per cent), and Paul Thompson (76.38 per cent) provided the highest age-grade scores of the day.

Achieving milestones this week were Peter Mason who clocked up his 100th run and Alexandra Hooton who reached her half century.

Parkrunner of the week goes to Joanne Horrocks who has now made it a hat-trick of consecutive PBs.

Joanne ran in 28:21, an improvement of eight seconds from last week and 39 seconds from a fortnight ago.

With road resurfacing taking place on Long Lane this week, access to Leverhulme Park may be limited on Saturday. Runners are being asked to check on the parkrun website or Facebook page for further updates.
