QPR boss Chris Ramsey expects the £1.75million deal to sign Wanderers defender to go through before the weekend – but is still living on his nerves.

Negotiations continued through the night on the deal to take the US international to Loftus Road, led by Rangers’ director of football, and former Bolton striker, Les Ferdinand.

Both parties were this morning confident the transfer would go through, although sources close to the player insist the window has not been closed on Fulham, who have also had a bid rejected this week.

Speaking at his weekly press conference, Ramsey admits the deal has been a complicated one to push through, and hinted that he did have some back-up options if there were any last-minute hitches.

But with Wanderers working hard on two deals themselves, it seems inevitable Ream will be a QPR player soon rather than later.

“I think it will go through,” Ramsey said. “There’s a negotiation period, and as a manager you do get a bit jittery.

"Because if you want the player, the player has the upper hand, but in our situation no one can have the upper hand because we’re dictated to by the finances we’ve got.

“I know Les was bargaining hard last night trying to get it done, and it won’t be from the want of trying if it doesn’t get done.

“There’s a few other people we’ve looked at."
