EGERTON'S Meg Fairclough led from the front as she captained Lancashire Women to the Second Division Twenty20 title yesterday.

Standing in for injured skipper Jasmine Titmuss, the Bolton ace has led the side to wins in their last four games.

The latest two came at Durham on Sunday against Staffordshire and Durham when her side sealed the title with a perfect eight wins out of eight.

The first game saw the Thunder post a total of 118-5 which proved far too many for Staffs, particularly once Fairclough had ripped the heart out of their innings with 4-9 in her four overs.

Other Bolton girls Nalisha Patel (1-17 from four) and Bhumika Doshi (1-7 from two) helped dismiss Staffs for just 77 in reply, and a 41-run win which secured the title.

The second game against Durham saw the home side bat first and once again Fairclough dominated with identical figures of 4-9 from her four overs.

Patel (0-12 from four) and Doshi (0-4 from three) bowled miserly spells in support as Durham limped to just 52-9 in their 20 overs.

Despite a couple of early scares the Thunder recovered well to record a comfortable six-wicket win and complete their perfect record.
