MARC Iles gives his player by player verdict on Wanderers' 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.

WANDERERS: 4-2-3-1

BEN AMOS 7

Made one important save from Antonio early in the second half and also showed excellent handling with some tricky crosses later on.

LAWRIE WILSON 7

Defensively, Wilson’s best outing yet in a Wanderers shirt. Learned his lesson quickly against the powerful Antonio and didn’t give him any encouragement.

DORIAN DERVITE 7

Should perhaps have done better with a couple of chances that fell his way but the Frenchman was solid at the back and marshalled Walker well.

PRINCE-DESIRE GOUANO 8

The Prince read the game superbly and put in some important challenges. His pace got him out of a few holes at times, but he was strong throughout.

DEAN MOXEY 8

Another very solid afternoon from Moxey, who but for a shaky day at Boro, has been Wanderers’ most consistent customer so far this season.

NEIL DANNS 6

Though Danns’ use of the ball could have improved at times he did put himself around and won back his fair share of possession. Step in the right direction.

MARK DAVIES 7

Davies was as busy as he has been all season in midfield and linked up well with Wellington, Madine and Clough on the fringes of the penalty box.

TOM WALKER 5

The youngster let his head go down a little when he over-hit a few crosses, which was a shame because his set piece delivery had been very good.

ZACH CLOUGH 6

Learning on the job that it isn’t all praise and headlines. Went desperately close to a goal but nerves are creeping into his game a little at present.

WELLINGTON SILVA 7

The Brazilian was a breath of fresh air on the ball – always positive, always compact, and his pace had Forest worried from the off. Great start.

GARY MADINE 6

Extremely poor penalty aside, Madine had a good game. Needs to get that monkey off his back but is doing very little else wrong up front.

Subs: Feeney 46 (for Walker) – Constant menace second half 8

Heskey 82 (for Wellington) – Went close to a goal 6

Dobbie 90 (for Clough) – Broke the streak! 7

Not used: Fitzsimons, Vela, Spearing, Finney.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST: 4-1-3-2

DORUS DE VRIES    6

ERIC LICHAJ  6

MATT MILLS            6

JACK HOBBS            7

DANIEL PINILLOS   6

MICHAEL MANCIENNE     7

BEN OSBORN           6

KYLE EBECILLIO       6

HENRI LANSBURY   7

MICHAIL ANTONIO                        6

TYLER WALKER        7

Subs: Chris Burke 6, 58 (for Osborn), Vaughan 75 (for Ebicilio), Fox 86 (for Walker)

Not used: Evtimov, Wilson, O Burke, Grant.

WANDERERS' STAR MAN

Dean Moxey - Forest’s dangers were always going to come from out wide, but with Moxey and Wilson in impeccable form, their supply line was cut. Moxey has barely put a foot wrong this season and played through the pain of a badly bruised toe to put in what must rank as his best display in a Wanderers shirt.

FOREST'S STAR MAN

Henri Lansbury – Must be a nightmare to referee, or manage, or play alongside, but the former Arsenal midfielder is certainly an effective player. Never stopped moaning but can play too.

Referee:  Carl Boyeson (East Yorkshire) 6

Awarded a soft penalty for Wanderers but missed a more obvious one for a foul on Madine. Tried to let the game flow, to be fair to him.

Goals: Wanderers – Dobbie 90+4 Forest – Vaughan 81

Entertainment – 7/10

Absorbing second-half masked over a fairly tepid first 45 minutes. And what about that finale? It was hard to pick a winner throughout a tight match and you got the feeling the first goal might just turn out to be the deciding one. Thankfully, it wasn’t.

Atmosphere – 7/10

The anti-Freedman reaction never really got going in the way we expected and neither set of fans really found their voice until the bitter end. From a Wanderers’ perspective, the last-gasp goal made the result feel more like a victory than a draw.

Match point – Gary Madine’s penalty six minutes after the restart was a pivotal moment. If he had converted the chance, the nerves would have been settled and Wanderers could have gone on to score more – but the miss handed the advantage to Forest.

Magic moment – What else? Davies tees up Stephen Dobbie, who had only been on the pitch for minutes and had not touched the ball. The Scot’s  perfectly-placed shot nestles in the bottom corner and sends the Macron Stadium into delirium. If Carlsberg did substitutions...
