GREG Salt, Dunscar's 2014 captain, appeared to be both shocked and delighted to have won the overall BGA Prestons’ Trophy last Saturday when he recorded a superb 65-nett to win by one shot.
“I knew that I was having a fairly good round” said Salt, “But I didn’t know just how close it was until afterwards when I realised that my final chip-in from off the green on the 18th gave me the win.”
Dunscar also clinched the trophy for the best four club players from any one club and Salt was part of that triumph also.
Stephen Brookes of Great Lever came second with a 66 nett while Regent Park’s Paul Bartle came third with a 68 and also made the lowest gross score of 77.
Paul Jeary of Great Lever also matched a 68 in fourth place while the home club trio of Dunscar’s John Conroy, Michael Scholes and Michael Crookson all carded a 69 nett.
