WANDERERS Under-18s saw their four-game winning streak ended by Coventry City this afternoon when they went down 3-1.

David Lee's side welcomed the Sky Blues to the Eddie Davies Academy looking to extend their good run in the U18 Professional Development League 2.

But despite another goal from prolific teenage striker Alex Samizadeh, the visitors came out on top.

The Wanderers youngsters started slowly and the first half belonged to City who scored twice through Bas Sambou and Jay Albini to give them a comfortable lead at the midway point.

The Whites did have chances but the visiting keeper twice denied Tyrell Palmer in one-on-one situations.

Lee's side came out brighter after the break and in-form Samizadeh saw an effort come back off the bar and another attempt cleared off the line before he gave them hope of a way back.

The 16-year-old latched on to a Palmer cross to score from eight yards and move into double figures after just seven games for the U18s.

Lee's hosts pressed for a leveller but Coventry made the game safe with their third of the afternoon through Jordan Shipley in stoppage time.

It was a first defeat in five games but Lee had few complaints after the final whistle.

The coach said; "We did not start too well and conceded two goals in the first half.

"We were much better throughout the second half and pressed for an equaliser after Alex Samizadeh scored.

"But overall, we didn't do enough to win the game."

The U18s are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Humberside to face Hull City.
