BOLTON Old Links Junior team have reached the final of the BMW Trophy having secured their place after four rounds played over the summer months against some serious opposition.

On Sunday they travel to Lowest Park Golf Club in Bury where they meet co-finalists Styal Golf Club from Cheshire in the final.

Old Links Junior Organiser, Tracy Tunstall, is over-joyed to reach the final.

“I believe this is the first time our junior team have reached this final” she said, “And I am so pleased for the lads who have played some stunning golf in the preceding rounds.”

In the run up to the final, the Old Links boys defeated Leyland 5-2; Rossendale 4-3; Houghwood 7-0 and in the semi-final took care of Blackley 5-2.

Tracey has produced an excellent team for the final with four of their top players holding handicaps of five or under.

Michael Tunstall, who has made several appearances for Lancashire has a 1.9 handicap followed by Marcus Scholes, who also has been mentioned in the Lancashire ranks (2.1) together with Nathan Bryan (2.9) and sixteen year-old Sam Rigby (4.2).
