IT was a day of landmarks at Bolton parkrun on Saturday as two of the event's stalwarts chalked up milestones.

Paul Johnson joined an exclusive club when he completed his 200th run – 191 of which have been at Bolton – while serial women's points winner Olivia Kearney ran her 150th, all of which have been at Leverhulme Park.

A total of 258 runners completed the 5k course with 28 volunteers giving up their time to make it happen.

And there was a stunning run by first-past-the-post Jonothan Kay who clocked 16mins 28secs.

His time was 22 seconds slower than the course record and one of the fastest ever run in the event's four-and-a-half-year history.

The Bolton United Harriers and AC ace has a 100 per cent record of finishing first, the third time he has done so in three appearances.

Paul Freary was second over the line in 18:28 and Thomas Fletcher was next in 19:00.

For the ladies, Linda Walker was first to finish in 23:55, with Rachel Hancock (24:04) and Olivia Kearney (24:17) behind her.

There were 18 were first timers, 53 new personal bests set and representatives of 21 different athletics clubs took part.

Parkrun tourists included Graham Bennison, a former Bolton Harrier who drove from Fife to take part, 224-time parkrunner Mike Elliott who set up Durham parkrun in 2011 along with Bolton event director David Ardill – and Mark Dewdney from Brighton.
