FORMER Bolton Wanderers and Burnley midfielder Chris Eagles could be on his way to Bury, according to Coventry boss Tony Mowbray.

Eagles spent last week on trial with the Sky Blues but their manager said in a press conference today that the Shakers had made a move for the winger.

The 29-year-old ex-Manchester United trainee is a free agent after being released by Charlton in the summer.

"Someone told me he signed for Bury this morning," said Mowbray.

"So if that's the case we wish him well.

"We need to speak to him about that. I enjoyed him for a week but we wish him well at Bury.

"Maybe location may have been a factor, I don't know."

The best spells of Eagles' career have come in the North West, scoring 25 goals in 144 appearances for the Clarets and 19 goals in 106 matches for Wanderers.

After leaving Bolton for Blackpool on a free transfer last November he played just seven times for the Seasiders before moving to Charlton in February.

Eagles scored twice in 15 appearances for the Addicks, 10 of those coming off the bench.

Bury's official spokesman said the club was unable to make a comment at this time.
