HORWICH Cycling Club have earned some podium spots in races recently.

After round seven of the North West Cyclocross League at Pig Nut Hill in Northwich organised by Weaver Valley Cycling Club, Andy Brindle was second in the veterans category.

In the field of 115 racers, Steff Chandler was fifth, Dave Headon was 11th, Russell Owen was 59th, Paul O’Halloran finished 60th, Sarah Grimshaw was 92nd, Kate Porter was 112th.

Meanwhile in the seniors race, Craig Sefton led the club home in ninth, Adam Newall was 16th, Andy Porter was 23rd, Dave Tabron finished 50th.

They also took part in round eight at Otterspool in Merseyside and Brindle earned another spot on the podium (third) in the vets race.

Vets: Steffen Chandler (ninth), Joseph Heywood (16th), Paul Hudson (20th), Dave Headon (24th), Russell Owen (62nd), Paul O’Halloran (81st), Sarah Grimshaw (94th), Kate Porter (109th).

Seniors: Joseph Peatfield (seventh), Dave Powell (11th), Craig Sefton (18th), Andy Porter (19th), Adam Newall (21st), Dan O’Halloran (39th) and Dave Tabron (49th).

Peatfield is currently well on track to first junior in the overall league.

Andy Brindle is looking good for a top three podium place for the overall league.

Meanwhile, the seniors have a good chance to retain the team prize again for a 13th year.
