FORMER Wanderers captain Kevin Nolan is set to become player-manager of League Two Leyton Orient.

The 34-year-old midfielder has been without a club since leaving West Ham at the end of last season and has repeatedly been linked with a move back to Bolton.

It is believed one consortium looking to buy the club had agreed a deal to bring him back in a player-coach capacity but protracted takeover talks have offered a chance for the Os to make their move.

Nolan, who made 345 appearances and scored 50 goals for Wanderers before leaving for Newcastle United in a £4million deal in January 2009, had been discussing a playing deal at Brisbane Road.
