THE Harriers felt the full force of Storm Imogen when they took on the Wadsworth Trog fell race on Saturday.

Andy Ford set a strong pace on the moors above Hebden Bridge in the 20-mile race with more than 4,000ft of ascent, finishing 22nd of 145 troggers.

Nick and Sandra Kelly also continued their fine starts to 2016 with ‘storming’ runs.

Two Horwich juniors, both in the 10-year-old category, finished in first and 11th places respectively in the Winter Warmer 2k race in Blackburn on Sunday.

Cian Healey won in style from a field of 246 runners by a clear 21 seconds. Freya Whittle was the first F10 runner home.

In the senior race, Rob Jackson emerged well from a winter of training to record 11th place with 440 runners in the race.

Not to be outdone over the hill in Todmorden, Michael Cayton led for much of the Red Hot Toddy 10k race to take third place.

And in Southport, four Harriers battled the wind like Mad Dogs and were rewarded with 10k personal bests for 2016.

The parkrun highlight would have been Tom Lucas or Andy Lloyd, who both finished second at Bolton and Haigh Woodlands, respectively, if it wasn’t for Horwich junior, Ella Pendlebury, who was the first female home at Pennington Flash in 21:32.
