MICK McCarthy has confirmed the signing of Wanderers winger Liam Feeney on loan until the end of the season.

Speaking after last night’s victory over Blackburn Rovers, the Ipswich Town boss said he had been impressed with Feeney’s performances in recent weeks.

“I thought he was different class against us last Tuesday,” he told The Ipswich Star. “He can play either side, he’s got real pace and he can stretch the pitch. He’s an experienced Championship player and will be a good addition.”

Feeney has played 41 times for Wanderers this season, scoring five goals, but his exit has raised debate among fans that the club is already planning for life in League One.

The Whites currently sit 11 points from safety with nine games remaining, the first of which is a trip to Bristol City on Saturday.

Neil Lennon left his position as manager yesterday with academy boss Jimmy Phillips placed in temporary charge until the end of the season.
