EAGLEY recorded back-to-back wins at the weekend by following up Saturday's victory against Little Hulton by knocking St Annes out of the National Knockout at the first-round stage.

Nathan Armstrong (62) and captain Matt Grindley (27 not out) top scored for St Annes as they totalled 194-7 from their rain-reduced 37 overs.

Tom Mitchell was the only bowler of note with figures of 3-41.

The weather broke up play five times in the second innings and Eagley were set a revised target of 105 from 20 overs.

Asif Bhojani spearheaded the reply with a fine batting display for the Bolton side hitting 50no.

Ross Brown chipped in with 20 runs to set up a nail-biting finale but Eagley kept their nerve to recorded a memorable victory with only 11 balls remaining.

Little Lever were the only other Bolton side to finish their game on a rain-soaked Sunday as they took a battering off Bamford Fieldhouse.

The Rochdale-based side had Lewis Dale (115no) and Chris Tipper (87) to thank for racking up a massive total of 301-3.

Little Lever skipper Jon Kerrigan (31) led with the bat in reply but the bowling attack of Adam Ahmed (2-13) and Tipper (2-15) had the Victory Road outfit dismissed for 123 – 178 runs short of the target.

Kearsley were dumped out by Dukinfield following a bowl-out defeat.

Grant Cordin had given the Springfield Road side a bright start scoring 30no as his side posted 50-2 after eight overs.

But the game became unplayable and the visitors took advantage of the bowl-out to secure the victory.

The three other scheduled games were all postponed and could take place on the provisional reserved date on Sunday.

However, two of those matches did include some play, with Farnworth starting well against Clifton scoring 150-3 in the first innings.

Clifton, who defeated current Bolton League title holders Egerton in the Greater Manchester Cricket League the previous day, could not handle the hot batting of Ross Sutton (23), Adil Nisar (33) and Imran Mirza (41no) who all scored highly on the wet wicket.

After four breaks in play Clifton had their turn to bat but lost key batsman Gareth Cross as they slipped to 29-2 – Victor Walcott (1-7) and Chris Wilson (1-12) each taking a wicket.

But then the heavens opened and play was abandoned.

Similarly, Darcy Lever were left chasing 159-2 by Hyde after Dan Berry notched his half-century.

The weather stopped the Hacken Lane outfit launching their reply and the game will now be replayed.

Horwich's trip to Leyland was abandoned without play.

The postponements now mean there could be a bumper fixture list this Sunday, but Farnworth may have to swap their tie to their home ground of Bridgeman Park if it clashes with Clifton's already scheduled reserve fixture.
