A BOLTON junior football team who won the Lancashire FA County Youth Cup on Sunday has a number of potential professionals in their ranks, according to their manager.

FC Strikerz Under-12s produced an outstanding performance to beat Lancaster City Youth who had won 17 out of 17 games in their league this season.

The 2-1 victory at the Lancashire FA headquarters' County Ground at Leyland had the Strikerz supporters purring with pride and superlatives.

And their manager, Andy Mason, believes some are good enough to follow him into the professional game.

"They are an exciting group of players who are learning and developing all the time," said the Bolton man who came through the ranks at Wanderers before going on to play at professional and semi-professional level.

We are looking at a team full of pros in the future if they continue to develop the way they are and keep their love for the game.

"They are on an unbelievable journey and are loving playing the grassroots game where you learn what it's like to be in love with the game.

"The football they play is great to watch, our ethos is to dominate possession to the point where we don't give the opposition a touch of the ball and they did that on Sunday, especially in the second half when they were fantastic."

Conor Barker gave the Bolton boys an early lead when he converted a cross by Ethan Mason, Andy's son.

Lancaster levelled on the stroke of half time but one-way traffic in the second half finally paid off when Ruairi Behan beat two players and crashed home the winning goal.
