TWO Bolton boxers maintained their unbeaten records last weekend.

Paul Drago and Osman Aslam, who both train at Elite Gym in Halliwell, stopped their opponents in bouts which varied in competitiveness.

Drago had what his trainer, Alex Matvienko, described as a "war" against Liverpool's Louis Cuddy at Wigan's Robin Park on Friday night.

The Great Lever cruiserweight caught fellow unbeaten Cuddy with a big left hook which knocked him down in the sixth round.

"I have cornered four or five world title fights and this was good enough to be staged in a big arena," said Matvienko.

"It was a great fight and a great win for Paul because people had him as underdog."

Aslam extended his unbeaten record with a third-round stoppage of veteran Estonian Sergey Tasimov on Saturday.

The Halliwell super bantamweight has now won all four fights since turning professional 18 months ago.

The 22-year-old had too much on the night for his 41-year-old opponent at the Macron Stadium's Whites Hotel with a succession of good body shots finally prompting referee Phil Edwards to call a halt a round early.

Aslam, who is managed by Asif Vali – who also looks after heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury – and also trained by Matvienko – is now looking to summer for his next fight.
