HORWICH RMI’s star performer of the week has to be Julie Williamson who completed the club’s Jubilee five-mile road race before running marathons in Wales and Cumbria over the weekend.

In north Wales Williamson competed in Saturday's Excalibur marathon, which involves a 5,500ft ascent in the Clwydian Mountains, and on Sunday she ran the Brathay marathon in the Lake District, where clubmate Richard Howarth posted fourth place.

Also in the Lake District Josie Greenhalgh teamed up with Simon Ford from A&T Road Runners to finish 45th in the Old Counties Tops fell race, which involves 37 miles of running over Helvellyn, Scafell Pike and Coniston.

Andy Ford and Neil Walker of Altrincham AC were not far behind in a race that is a taster of the challenge that the legendary Bob Graham Round presents for the dedicated fell runner.

In the Great Manchester 10k Rob Jackson finished fifth in his age category and 128th overall of 35,000 runners.

There was also a great turnout by Horwich juniors in the Street races at Rivington, where Cian Healy and Lewis Wilkes were the two race winners and Harrison Stokes and Emma Bradley both won their age categories.

In the senior Jubilee race Alastair Murray returned to winning ways, closely followed by Lukas Siska. They were joined by James Jordan and Steve Jackson to win the team prize.

At the Haigh Woodland parkrun the places were reversed with Lukas coming home five seconds ahead of Alastair in 16mins 43secs.
