SAM Berry, Danny Hunt, Anthony Stirling and Tim Philbin will contest Wednesday night's semi-finals of the Bolton Golf Championships.

The quartet came through Tuesday night's quarter-finals at Hindley Hall for the chance to win through to Thursday night's final.

Berry will play Hunt with Stirling meeting Philbin when the action starts at 5pm.

Young Berry from Dunscar beat Joe Whittaker from Great Lever 6&4.

Berry showed great form against Whittaker for whom it was his first time in the finals.

Hunt of Great Lever eventually earned a 1-up win on the 18th against Steve Bryan of Old Links.

Hunt went 3-up after 11 holes but Brian fought back at the 12th and 13th to stay one down.

Hunt went 2-up at the 16th but missed a put on the 17th and Brian snatched a four from out of the trees to leave himself 1-down after 17.

Hunt held on with a half on the 18th to win the match 1-up.

Stirling of Harwood took his match against David Marsh of Old Links on the second extra hole.

It was tight match throughout with Marsh, in his first appearance in the finals, went 2-up after 13. Sterling fought back to make the match all square on the 18th.

Tim Philbin beat Aaron Harper on third extra hole to complete the semi-final line-up.

Philbin put an eight-foot birdie four into the hole to win the match which was always in doubt.

Harper went 1-up after three holes and Philbin then went 1-up after six and it was all square at the ninth.

Harper went ahead again and Philbin came back to square it at the 15th but a superb birdie at the 17th by Harper put him ahead with one to play.

Harper made a mess of the approach to the 18th and Philbin capitalised to take the match to the 19th.
