SAMMY Ameobi is hoping Wanderers fans take him to their hearts as they did his brother Shola.

The Newcastle United winger sought his sibling’s advice on deadline day after Phil Parkinson enquired about signing him on a six-month loan.

Shola made a big impact in a brief spell with the Whites last season and even offered to play for free after his short-term contract expired.

“He said some really great things about the club, I’m definitely looking to follow in his footsteps,” Sammy said.

“From what Shola said he had a great experience here and hopefully I can come here, do well and score some goals, have a good connection with the fans, also.”

Ameobi spent last season on loan at Cardiff and is hoping to guide Wanderers towards the Championship in his time at the Macron.

“We’re top of the league and I’m looking to maintain that – it’s why I’m here, we’ve got a great chance of going up,” he said.
