THOMAS Warriner has won his first award for cycling – at the age of three.
The Bromley Cross boy has proved a natural on a bike, having started to ride at just two years old and never having needed stabilisers.
He has been improving his fledgling talent at weekly cycle coaching run by North West Cycle Coaching at the UCLAN Sports Arena in Preston over the last few months.
And his performances at the sessions have earned him the coaches' prize which was presented to him at the event's awards evening in Preston.
Not surprisingly, Thomas, who is also a member of Bolton Hot Wheels, is the youngest cyclist at the sessions which are attended by riders from all over Lancashire, up to the age of 14.
As well as learning skills, the youngsters get a chance to race against the clock over a mile-long track every week, and Thomas has improved his lap time from more than five minutes to 4mins 30secs.
His dad Keith said of Thomas, who attends the pre-school nursery attached to Eagley Infants School: "He loves riding his bike and definitely has a competitive instinct even at this early age.
"I'm really proud of him receiving this award, he worked really hard at every one of the sessions and we can't wait to go back next year."
