TWO Astley and Tyldesley racers became British champions on Saturday.

John White won the British Youth and Junior League Under-10s series and Max Evans won the same competition at U14s.

The younger rider took to the track at Great Blakenham in Suffolk as the series leader and won all his four qualifying races, before taking first place in the Grand Prix A final, to clinch the British U10s Grand Prix title.

His older club-mate extended his series lead by winning his four qualifying races and then taking victory in the Grand Prix A final to win the title.

Both riders won three of this year's four national rounds, oddly only losing out on their home Gin Pit track in round three.

A&Ts other four riders put in great performances on the day. Ciaran Collins showed his ability by taking third place in the u17s Grand Prix A final.

Emily Burgess finished eighth in the u12s event, as did Frank White in the u8s match, with Aiden Green 12th in the u8s category.

The latest double champion success brings A&T's number of British title winners up to 17, all riders having started with the club as complete beginners and progressing to winning British titles.
