NEW Bolton RUFC skipper Rhys Pritchard is hoping for a repeat of last weekend's impressive performance when the side makes the long trip to Carlisle on Saturday.

The Cherry and Whites were just six points shy of three figures as they pulverised Workington 94-0 to respond to the previous weekend's defeat to Aspatria in fine style at Avenue Street.

They hit 14 tries through Louis Critchlow (three), Rhys Pritchard (two), Sam Fogg (two), Alex Waddicar (two), Jack Robinson, Jonny Stanfield, Gaz Pritchard, Manny Tailor and Chris Cockton, while Mike Mills kicked 12 conversions from 14 as a Workington side returning to level seven struggled to keep pace.

It was a rampant display that saw Bolton bounce back with aplomb.

And as they prepare to face more Cumbrian opposition, Pritchard hopes they can carry that ruthless streak into the weekend and get the victory that would see them leapfrog their hosts into third.

The captain told The Bolton News: "Carlisle have always been a good team so we know it won't be easy up there and it is a long trip up the M6.

"But we go into it confident after last week's big win.

"It was the perfect response to the Aspatria defeat, albeit it was a one-sided game.

"Workington have lost a few of their best players and usually when you reach 50 or 60 points you ease up.

"But we kept at it because we had a lot of frustration from the previous week to get rid of.

"It will be tougher this week but hopefully there will be more of the same because despite the margin of victory, we played some good rugby.

"Our defending was a lot more aggressive and we need more of that again at Carlisle."

The fourth-placed Cherry and Whites head north without young scrum-half Robinson who injured his hamstring scoring his fifth try of the campaign last weekend.

Ash Cooper and Chris Mee are also unavailable but Ryan McClusky is ready to return, and George Wilkes was back against Workington.

And the captain's brother, Gaz Pritchard, has also shown no reaction to his first outing in almost 18 months last weekend after a lengthy spell out following a shoulder operation.

Whoever gets the nod on Saturday, Rhys Pritchard hopes they can secure a third win of the North Lancs/Cumbria campaign.

He added: "We have a few out with Ash and Chris but Ryan comes into the thinking.

"Jack injured his hamstring scoring last week but he has gone back to university now so he would have been unavailable anyway.

"We have players to step in and it was pleasing, naturally, to see my brother Gaz back last week after so long out.

"We want to take that positivity and workrate from the Workington win into this game and hopefully send a message out to the rest of the league that we plan to be up there challenging again this season."
